STUDENT PROCESS: Activities for Zoologist
ASSISTANT TO THE Zoologist
Based on preliminary assessments you have been chosen as the assistant to the Zoologist, Mr. W.M. Tusks. You are going to investigate the fossils and cave drawings of the Ice Age animals during the Pleistocene or as we call it, The Ice Age. Your assignment is to investigate the Ice Age animals found in our “cave”. Your research team will expect a field report using your field notes on your favorite animal using Microsoft Publisher , or Microsoft Word.
During the last Ice Age, that ended about 10,000 years ago, there were many large, interesting mammals, like the saber-toothed cats, giant ground sloth, mastodons, and mammoths. These animals have long since become extinct and are known mostly from fossils, from frozen, mummified carcasses, and even from ancient cave drawings.
The discoveries found in our cave might help to explain what kind of animals were able to survive the conditions of the last Ice Age, and might also explain why many of these fascinating animals became extinct.
As the assistant to the Zoologist, Mr. W.M. Tusks, your job is to complete the following activities. All of your completed assignments will become part of the Log Book.
Good Luck!!
