Below is an example of an email invitation that you can send to potential research participants. This example assumes that you will be surveying students in EDU 738. If that isn't the case, additional information about who you are and the purpose of the study will be needed. And even for EDU 738 students, this sample may need to be adjusted. Also, you should copy your course instructor(s) on the email.


Subject: A request for your participation in our research project on XYZ


Hello,


We are writing to ask if you would be willing to participate in our survey on XYZ.  By participating in this survey, you will help us to understand ABC   (Add additional detail as needed to clearly explain your study and perhaps how your study may be of use to others.)

The survey will take approximately DEF minutes and can be taken online.  All responses are anonymous (NOTE: It is possible that your survey is not anonymous. In that case, adjust the wording accordingly) and only the student researchers listed below will have access to the survey results.

You are under no obligation to participate and there will be no negative consequences if you decide not to complete the survey.
